Is My Car Broken?
Carfix – Auto Repair Garner Helps Garner, NC, Vehicle Owners
Carfix – Auto Repair Garner is here to help you, but we need your help, too. Your vehicle may act up because it needs maintenance, or it may act up because there’s a problem. Either way, we have the state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and expertise to isolate issues and resolve them. Being proactive is key, however, so bring your vehicle in at the first sign of trouble.
We Trust Your Senses
Although we are certified mechanics, we understand that nobody knows your automobile better than you. You drive it every day, and you know how it has acted since you first drove it off the lot. We trust your senses. If you bring your car, truck, or SUV in and say there’s something wrong, we’ll look into it. Let us know if your steering wheel or the entire vehicle
- Shakes
- Shimmies
- Vibrates
Usually, an automobile or steering wheel that shakes, rattles, and rolls while you’re cruising down the highway has an alignment or balance issue.
Listen
Use your ears to you and your vehicle’s advantage, too. You know how your car is supposed to sound, so if it doesn’t sound as it should, give us a call or stop by. Keep in mind, the sooner you bring your vehicle in the better we can control costs. If something is wrong, it’s best to catch it quickly. When driving, always listen for
- Air sounds, such as leaks
- “Chicka-chicka-chicka”
- Squeals and squeaks
- The three Cs: clacking, clicking, clunking
- Turning noise
Use your eyes, too. Sight is an invaluable sense. If your vehicle’s interior or exterior lights flicker, if any dashboard warning lights turn on, or if you notice fluids underneath your vehicle in the garage, let us have a look. The issue could be electrical or mechanical, and we want to ensure we get it fixed for you right away.
Smell
Finally, if you notice an odd smell, pull over and turn off the vehicle right away. Your car should never have a burning, gas, hot electrical, oil, or rubber smell. If you notice the smell resembles rotten eggs, you might have a catalytic converter issue. A maple syrup smell could mean a radiator fluid leak. Sulfur could indicate a gear lube leak, and burnt carpet suggests your brake pads have overheated. Yikes! That’s a lot of smells to remember.
